The Ministry of Education and Higher Education reiterates the critical importance of safeguarding Palestinian children and putting an end to the ongoing crimes of the Israeli occupation against them. It calls for immediate action to stop the educational genocide against the children and students of Gaza and the ongoing targeting of children across Palestine, especially in Area "C".
For over a year, our people have been experiencing the horrors of an atrocious genocide. Education-related statistics reveal that more than 11,000 students in Gaza and 81 students in the West Bank have been martyred since 7 October 2023. These numbers, continuously updated, yet never worked upon, reveal the perilous situation of Palestinian children and students, persistently being targeted by the brutality of the Israeli occupation.
On World Children’s Day, the Ministry urges the international community to stand up to the occupation and its crimes; and to emphasize, not just in words, the protection of the rights of Palestinian children, particularly the rights to life and to education, as non-negotiable and inalienable rights.
The Ministry further stresses that it will spare no effort in safeguarding children and defending their rights, and in exposing the Israeli occupation violations through all political, diplomatic and media channels. Despite all the challenges, our children deserve to live with dignity and freedom. Our hope will continue to burn brightly, fueled by the resilience that defines the Palestinian spirit.
